Taking the Long View

Getting appointments with major prospects can take months, if not years.

On my radar was a major donor. His company began giving Inner City Impact an annual gift, but I knew there was so much more capacity to give. Of course, I wanted to seek an appointment.

A call to his secretary was friendly but she suggested I call in six months when his schedule would be more open. Six months later I placed my call to find out that he had some international trips, and it would be best to call in another six months. This went on for over two years, but I finally got my appointment.

As you see, it takes patience and persistence. Hang in there, with key prospects and donors like this. Take the long view.
