3 Key Questions to Ask (2/18/10)

When it comes to your fund raising, "If It’s Broken You Better Fix It." Take a look at these 3 key questions that you need to ask yourself.   

All of us are anxious to reduce the time and fear it takes to raise support, but we need to take a critical look to see if our strategy is indeed working.

In People Raising we see the need to make appointments and meet with people individually.

1. Question: Are you getting the appointments?
Are you asking for the appointment?

Are you giving people options on when to meet?

Are you handling their objections?

Are you being persistent?

Are you following up?

If not, are you looking for ways to fix it? Because "If it’s broken, you better fix it."
Another key part of the People Raising strategy is asking people to be a part of your financial support team.

2. Question: Are people responding by saying yes?
Are you asking for a specific amount or range of gift?

Are you truly asking?

Are you handling their objections?

Are you following up?

If not, are you looking for ways to fix it? Because "If it’s broken, you better fix it."

A key to your success in fundraising is to get people to make ongoing commitments to your support, i.e. a pledged monthly gift.
3. Question: Are you finding more people making ongoing commitments as opposed to special gifts?
Are you asking for a pledged gift?

Are you passionately sharing your heart and vision?

Are you focusing on your need more than your vision?

Are you challenging people high?

Are you asking for the minimum ask of $100?

If not, are you looking for ways to fix it? Because "If it’s broken, you better fix it."
If you fail to look at these issues and to take the necessary steps to adjust, you will increase, not decrease the time it will take to raise needed support and you will increase the fear, not reduce it.
