We all know one of the major reasons why people give is because they are asked! You have just asked for the gift, you might have asked for a specific amount or in a range, but what follows is extremely critical. It is what I refer to as the “ten seconds of silence.”
You have asked for their support, and for many you see the wheels turning as they wrestle with what you have asked them to do.
My advice: remain silent.
It is too easy for you to come to their rescue and remove the ask. What you have done is taken the decision away from them. You have shortcut the process. But avoid doing that and let them make the decision.
You will soon learn that being patient will pay big dividends as you practice the “ten seconds of silence.” I love to challenge people and see what God will do.
